Britannia are bringing benefits to our customers and the environment with the introduction of precision-engineered, sustainably-sourced timber frames to provide the utmost durability and energy efficiency for all of our homes. | Produced from managed forests, the performance-treated timber is manufactured in stringent factory-controlled conditions using the latest CAD technology. As well as being a non-toxic and renewable building material, timber is a natural insulator. Based on the thickness of Britannias inner leaf timber walls and the incorporation of other advances in energy-efficient design, we expects our homebuyers to make a typical saving of between thirty and forty per cent on their heating bills. Seventy per cent of people in the developed world live in timber framed buildings and, considering that throughout the UK there are timber framed heritage homes built hundreds of years ago, it is baffling to reflect that, unlike Scotland, England is now lagging behind with a percentage well below that figure, said Scott Leather, Britannias Commercial Manager. Timber frames are especially prevalent in the United States and the environmental benefits of using them are numerous. The wood that Britannia uses is effectively carbon-neutral, even allowing for transport, and has the lowest CO2 cost of any commercially available building material. In switching from less practical masonry structures, we have improved thermal efficiency - another environmental advantage which, of course, will also reduce our homeowners bills, said Jeremy Rider, Site Manager at Britannias latest development in Holywell Green, Halifax, where the timber frames are being used for the first time. The precision-engineered structure of Britannias timber frames is extremely durable and measured to the highest accuracy. Its also an adaptable form of construction that provides a very easy and clean extension process if extra space is needed for a growing family. Britannias timber frames are also being used at on the new Pullman House apartment phase at Destination 11 in Leeds, where the properties are due for release on 20th February. The development in Holywell Green will be officially launched on 27th February. Please register your interest by visiting the Contact Us page. | ||
