Formerly a milling town, Heckmondwike is ideally positioned for easy access to most of West Yorkshires major commercial centres. Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and Wakefield are all located less than 20 minutes drive away and Dewsbury can be reached in just over five minutes. Leeds bustling atmosphere and relaxed licensing laws often give the city an almost continental feel and its centre is well equipped to provide retail therapy for the most enthusiastic of shoppers: every high street name is there alongside countless specialist outlets that you wont find in any other city. Huddersfield too has recently acquired an impressive range of amenities, including the extensive Kingsgate Centre and a nine-screen cinema alongside an international sports venue at the Galpharm Stadium. Bradford offers some outstanding entertainment venues, including the Alhambra Theatre and the National Media Museum, which houses three cinemas - the Pictureville, Cubby Broccoli and the big screen IMAX theatre. | |||||||||
